Company: DOMedia, LLC
Thomas L. Wheeler Entrepreneurship Internship Award Program
The Center for Entrepreneurship - FCOB
DOmedia is a portfolio company of NCT Ventures, which is a venture capital firm based in Columbus. DOmedia was founded with one objective: to simplify the process of buying and selling alternative advertising media. Having had experience on both sides of the transaction, we understood the challenges both marketers and asset owners faced. We also knew that with the rapid changes in media consumption, alternative advertising channels would take on bigger roles in companies' branding campaigns. Our plan was to address the obstacles facing industry participants while promoting the creative and effective use of out-of-home and ambient advertising vehicles.
The DOmedia team, along with the partners at NCT Ventures is currently developing a business development plan for DO’s go-to-market strategy. The team currently has over 100 media companies using the site and has secured over 10 beta customers (both advertising agencies and direct marketers). The site is fully functional (www.domedia.com) and we plan on generating sales revenue January 2008 with the company’s first product, DOinvnentory. DOinventory will be a tool for media companies to organize and market their available inventory from their own website. The search function will tie back to DOmedia.com and will be integrated in real-time.
The student will be exposed to marketing, business development, web development, strategic planning and capital raising efforts. However the specific project we would like the student to take part in are the implementation and business development efforts for DOinventory. This will include developing a strategy for building business around the DOinventory product by creating call-lists of potential customers, monitoring sales process though internal CRM system, evaluating customer feedback, implementing the product into the DOmedia platform and any other general tasks involving the sales and service of DOinvntory.
The final deliverable will be a comprehensive business development plan that will be included as part of NCT’s comprehensive strategic plan for DOmedia. The student will define what the ideal customer looks like, identify customers, develop a customer acquisition strategy and implement the strategy. The student will be evaluated on the efficacy and success of the project, which will ultimately be measured by sales for Q1 2008.
